I highly recommend reading this book and all other books by Rosaria. There is a serious lack of honest books on this subject written from the perspective of personal experience. I hope she finds the time to write many more while we still have the freedom to do so.

This is nothing less than a life changing book. What Barry Long has to say about love is so important in these times, this is what everyone wants but no one knows how to make real.
My partner and I have put his teaching into practice and have found a totally different perception of love, and each other opening up to us. It's so beautiful! I am so grateful to Barry Long and amazed that more people aren't aware of this whole other spiritual dimension to making love. i would say that if you want this deeper, more real sort of love in your life you've really got to go for it and your partner too, otherwise it's just another book and you won't 'get' it. But even if you're single, you should read this book! If i had read this years ago i could have saved myself a lot of heartache. And if you are in partnership and you try this, it will make your love grow in a way you could not imagine.

In this book, Barry Long spells out his vision of human sexuality, its failings, and the ways in which we can restore it to its original divinity. While influenced by tantra, this book is completely different than many other 'manuals' for sacred sexuality. Long is clear, concise, and at times quite blunt as he lays out both the obstacles to sexual union and the methods to overcome them. He is never overly technical, which I greatly appreciated in reading this book. The material is presented in a grounded and matter-of-fact way, but also with respect and a deep spiritual understanding.

If you are looking for a book that focuses on 'techniques' (i.e. breathwork, positions, mantras, etc.) this is certainly not the book for you. Long in several places argues that the majority of tantric teachers espouse practices that do little more than excite the body--and his message is completely the opposite. amazing, revelatory, empowering

as a survivor of rape and sexual abuse, i have read a bunch of books on the aftereffects of assault, being a survivor, et cetera, but most of the stuff out there is pretty dry and basic and i just didn't find it very helpful. this book is direct, incredibly right-on, it gives you hands on techniques for staying present in your body, it includes an amazing discussion of triggering. it also uses down to earth language and is not too self-help-y, and it acknowledges that certain terms might be alienating and medicalizing for some people.
FYI: although it is targetted at female survivors of child sexual abuse, i myself am not a woman, and the sexual assault/abuse i experienced occured during my teenage years, not my childhood. i still found the book very useful. there is also a great chapter aimed at partners of survivors.

I have been waiting for this book for years!!

When I first found this book I was hoping it would be different, as a healing survior I have read alot of help books, and although comforting, they usually told me why I had the problems I did but didnt give me much advice on how to start living and having fun again in life, this book was amazing at that, it was what I had been looking to read since I started wanting to heal!! It would be a great book for anyone wanting good sexual information in a society that dosnt offer that much, I found it straight forward and honest and funny ..great book!! I loooved it!!:)

I've been waiting for someone to write a book like this
For the past eight years, I have been slowly, painstakingly discovering for myself many of the techniques that Staci Haines details in this book. As far as I am aware, I am not a survivor of child sexual abuse, but I have many of the same difficulties - lack of trust, unclear boundaries, easily triggered, difficulty being sexually present.
I looked at books on recovery; they seemed only to tell me that it was OK to not have sex. I looked at TONS of books on sex and none addressed my difficulties - until The Survivor's Guide to Sex. I can say from my own experience that it's not easy to put Staci's suggestions into practice, nor do the rewards necessarily come quickly. But for some of us, this is the only way we're going to reclaim our sexuality.
I highly recommend this book if you feel numb, shut-down, or angry during sex, whether or not you are a "survivor". Chances are you have some deep healing work to do, and this book is the only guide I've seen for doing...

Having read many instructional manuals on the subject of sex, far too many are written from the perspective of clinical practice and not in layman terms. Jessica has done a fantastic job in keeping it simple, interesting and easy to follow. Techniques are visually explained in great detail and are very easy to follow. The other great point is that a lot of information is packed into a small package and this "sex manual" can be easily placed close at hand on a side table. The cover is by no means discreet so if you have kids it may be an issue if you keep this book on a side table but other than that it is probably one of the best books on the subject of sex ever written. My wife bought this for us and we both loved every minute of reading it! I am now recommending it to colleagues and friends.

This is a gorgeous book. Dr Jess has done a fantastic job blending technical know-how into an easy-to-follow guide. She starts by breaking down how our bodies work, which is the foundation to great sex! The book is laid out in an inviting way, with FAQs and little blurbs for sex geeks throughout. These little touches make for a fun and informative read. We start with the basics and ramp up to lots and lots of techniques for pleasuring him, pleasuring her, and of course, for pleasuring both. As the chapters go on we add more and more into the mix, including specifics for anal play and adding some kink. The New Sex Bible even goes into keeping the flame alive and overcoming challenges. I highly recommend the book for any single, couple, or more. Great photos. Great ideas. It's a sexy looking book filled with hot, hot content.

Although a newer sex book, it is already my favorite sex book to recommend (I work as a sex educator for adults). It's well written, easy to read, has great diagrams, fun quizzes at the start of every chapter and - best of all - the information is GREAT. It's right on, it's accurate and written by someone who totally knows what she is talking about.

A major frustration of mine is that a lot of sex books are written by random people who don't know what they're talking about but act like they do. These are the same people who wind up doing things that their partners find unpleasurable but they do them because they read it in a book or magazine (that was wrong!). FINALLY - a book written by an expert who is fun, smart, and clearly loves sex! Dr. Debby writes about sex the way it should be written about - like it's fun and something we can learn to find pleasurable, exciting and connecting with our partners.

This book was okay, but not really for women who are in tune with their bodies, and looking to spice up their love life. This seems to be more geared to those not comfortable with sex and their own bodies.

My favorite BF book so far!
I ordered this book recently, it arrived yesterday, and I have spent much of today reading different sections of it. I want to start by saying that this is my favorite BF/EA book ever! I own and have read many books on Taoism, particularly translations by Thomas Cleary and books by Daniel Reid. I've read a number of other books on Taoist subjects, including many by Bruce Frantzis and his Energy Arts company. I've gleaned things from every BF book I've ever read, but my largest critique or issue with them has always been that they tend to be very technique-heavy and theory-light. Depending who you are and what your preferences may be, that can be either a good thing or a bad thing. I've always viewed BF as being farthest on the "practical doing" side of the continuum, and Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming as being the furthest on the "theory" side, though obviously both men can do both.

This book is quite sizable, coming in at around 400 pages or so total. It has a number of...
The real thing

When I purchased this book I had only heard of Bruce Frantzis on the internet. I was reticent to make the purchase because of all the "Experts" ready and willing to take someone's money and offer almost nothing in return. It seems that in the internet marketing world, there is no end of people offering dubious wisdom for financial gain. Few of them have much honor beyond their desire to cash in the the wealth of anonymous marketing. Bruce Frantzis, I am pleased to report, is the real thing.
This book, encyclopedic in length and content is a rare find. It offers the Taoist theory upon which all the exercises, both mental and physical are based. Having been a student of Tai Chi Chuan for several years, I was most excited to be reminded of what I used to know and instructed in theories and techniques I had never heard of before.
In a word, after reading some of the 400 plus pages of this tome, I would love to study personally with Mr. Frantzis.

Extremely comprehensive book on taoism and sex
This book is a joy to read and is also packed with in depth content at over 400 pages. The amount of information that the author includes is outstanding. Having himself studied real taoism for decades, the act of bringing this knowledge to the West is a real treasure.
The information in the book is very organised and contains a lot of information that is universally useful to all kinds of practice and taoism as whole. The sex aspect of taoism is not just some thing that is completely separate from everything else but rather because the practices are based on taoism itself just learning about the sex aspect can enhance your overall understanding of taoist practices and theory, which the author goes into in depth.
The book's practices and the overall context of everything ties back to taoism and all its practices as everything one does in whatever solo practices of qigong and meditation that they do can be integrated and used in sexual qigong or sexual meditation.

I bought this on a whim after first discarding the flyer and then deciding to be open minded about the subject. I ordered from Amazon, received the book in a very short time and started reading immediately. Once I had read the very enlightening material, I was ready to try it out on my husband, who had been away while I was learning. Having been a physical therapist, the techniques were easy for me to learn, although I had never, ever done a massage on that area! My husband was game to be the subject, and I explained that he was to concentrate on enjoying the sensations without a goal in mind. He loved it. For the first time in his life, he was able to control ejaculation, resulting in increased and prolonged pleasure. We are no longer young, but we both agreed that this was absolutely the best sex either one of us had ever experienced! I heartily recommend this book.

Excellent look at relationships

Sexual Intimacy for Women is a compelling, well-written and researched look at many aspects of lesbian relationships, including the impact intimacy can have. The book is very readable including actual situations her 'composite' clientele have been faced with and how she helped them through their issues. We can all see ourselves in these pages. I am the mother of two boys, ages 11 and 13, and I found this book to be the best ever sex education book. The first and perhaps most impressive aspect of the book is that it not only helps you see your child's sexuality through his/her eyes, it also portrays the parents' point of view in a helpful and sympathetic way.
The second element that makes the book so effective is its down-to-earth humor. The authors review the phases of children's sexual development and parental experiences with many funny real life examples that get you chuckling and relaxing. In fact, my boys heard me laughing as I read one section and came over to ask about it. They read the part I was reading and it lead to a very comfortable discussion.
A third aspect of the book I appreciated is that the authors have really done their research. They are not just giving their opinions, they provide concise research information which adds perspective.

What a great read! I almost finished it in one sitting. This book is not only well-written, it's also chock full of great advice. I found it much more accessible than Deborah Roffman's Sex and Sensibility. It was as if the author knew me and wrote the book for me -- I want my children to grow up with a good attitude about sex, but even so, I feel a little squeamish about these topics. As a mom of a pre-teen and a toddler, I'm glad there's a book out there like this that isn't exclusively focused on teens, though they're well-covered here too. This one's a keeper. Now I've got a great new shower gift idea!

I think books are a useful tool to open up lines of communication and purchased this author's book, Everything You Never Wanted Your Kids to Know About Sex with a copy of Dr. Ruth's Sex for Dummies for my older teen. I also read and shared, Human Sexuality by Roger R. Hock.

It is my personal feeling that providing your child with information about thier bodies will help them keep themselves healthy. When You're Ready

This is a phenomenal book, as is Staci Haines' other book The Survivor's Guide to Sex. It has an extensive list of resources at the end. The author speaks with a clear, engaging voice. But you have to be ready for it, as the author is very clear and direct about the subject matter. I have been consciously healing the wounds of child sexual abuse for over 17 years - in the beginning with lots of therapy, both group and individual, and in recent years, through journaling, prayer, yoga. Healing comes in layers. Currently I am celibate because I am too darn afraid. Staci Haines's book gives me a roadmap for what to expect when I finally am able to put myself out there. She assumes the reader is familiar with dissociation, numbing, leaving the body, PTSD reactions, etc., etc. She just picks up from there, and talks about having sex that feels good and safe, even though you have these issues.

Better than I expected

I purchased this book about 6 months after I'd checked out the older version from the Library of the survivors' group that I attend. I found the overall tone of the book to be hopeful, positive and encouraging, but also challenging. The author's premise is that it's not only possible to have a healthy sexual self after surviving sexual abuse, it can be the most dynamic part of a survivor's healing practice. The author also cautions that it won't be easy, and that it takes courage and self-love to take on this work. I particularly liked the chapters on Dissociation and Intimacy.

A Must Read for Partners of Survivors
This is a hard hitting and revealing description of what has occured to the survivor. Many snipett descriptions are revolting for the partners to read. For any partner of a survivor this will help you gain a insight in helping understand just how vile perps are and what the survivor lives with on a daily. The perps are creatures of such evil that society should eradicate them there should be no attempt made to rehabilitae or otherwise allow them to remain in society.

After reading this I have a whole different perspective and respect of my mate and the inner strength she has. The life with a survivor is definitely the biggest rollercoaster ride I have ever experienced.
